The aftermath came quickly.
Calls. Messages. Accusations.
I ignored most of them.
When Daniel finally reached me, his voice was no longer confident.
“You can’t do this,” he said.
“I already have,” I replied.
He tried to explain, to justify, to minimize. But the truth was simple.
“You didn’t lose anything that was yours,” I told him. “You lost access to what I allowed you to have.”
I ended the call.
His mother called next, her tone furious now, stripped of earlier composure. I blocked her without hesitation.
At work, I handled the situation differently.
I initiated an internal review. Not out of revenge—but necessity. Boundaries don’t exist without structure.
Lily’s access was suspended pending investigation. Her involvement with someone connected to external business interests created risks the company couldn’t ignore.
Days later, she asked to meet.
When she sat across from me, she looked completely different—no longer confident, no longer certain.
“I didn’t know,” she said quietly.
I believed her.
